Industrial Signs & Labels

Made To Last

We laser engrave custom electrical panel labels, equipment identification tags, nameplates, and industrial signage for commercial and industrial applications. Labels are produced to customer specifications and are designed to support OSHA workplace safety practices, NEC equipment identification requirements, and ANSI safety communication standards. Isonorm (ISO-standard single line font) is also available for projects requiring standardized industrial lettering.

Our labels are laser-engraved two-ply plastic: a colored surface layer over a contrasting core, engraved so the lettering can’t rub, fade, or peel off. It’s UV-stable and holds up in demanding indoor and outdoor environments. For marine, outdoor, and harsh-environment applications, we use industrial-grade stock with a UL-recognized flammability rating (UL94-HB), engineered for UV exposure and chemical resistance. Most colors are available in both 1/16″ and 1/8″ thicknesses, with 1/16″ being the most common choice for panel labels and tags.

A quick note on phenolic: engraved labels were traditionally made from phenolic, so a lot of panel schedules still say “phenolic” out of habit. Unless your spec or inspector specifically requires phenolic as a material, there are modern engraving plastics that meet the same identification requirements — with crisper engraving at a lower cost. If your project does call for phenolic by name, our material won’t satisfy that requirement, and we’ll tell you that up front. Detailed material spec sheets are available on request. For everything else, it’s a durable, cost-effective upgrade.

  1. What it says & the layout — the text for each label and how it should appear. For example: “3×1, single line — PUMP 1” or “3×2, two lines — BILGE PUMP / Circuit 4.” If you’re sending a panel schedule, note the layout format alongside it.
  2. Size — plate or tag dimensions. Material is 1/16″ thick unless you specify otherwise. Most colors are also available in 1/8″ — check the color chart above for availability.
  3. Color — surface and text color (refer to the chart above if needed)
  4. Where it’s going — indoor panel room, outdoor equipment, marine environment, chemical exposure? The location drives the material choice, and we’ll confirm the right one for your application.
  5. How it mounts — adhesive back, screw holes, or hang hole for tags. If you need screw holes, include the hole size and center-to-center spacing if you have it — we’ll match your existing hardware.

Most of our industrial customers don’t need one label — they need forty. Email your panel schedule or label list to amber@lakemarionengraving.com or fill out our quote form below. We’ll quote the full set. We work directly from what you send us. Proofs are available on request — just let us know if you’d like one before we cut.
